Flying to Israel on a GA private flight Flying in Israel There are 2 international airports serving
as point of entry to Israel, with custom and passport control. The large and
busy one is LLBG - Ben
Gurion near Tel Aviv with all international facilities, including the
need for handling agent . It is required to apply for GA Arrival/landing permit ( security clearance ) by submitting the application form, 2-3 weeks in advance to the planed flight ( see below the link to the ASOC form ) . How ever keep in mind that Haifa airport is only operational by VMC. Below you will find links to: Israel A.I.P (English edition), Aircraft & Passengers Fees and charges on International flights and other initial necessary information. Please do not hesitate to contact us for
any further information

Flying in Israel - the privilege of foreign licensed , non Israeli PPL One must file a flight plan at the IAA center, for every flight ! at least 30 minute prior to Take off ! By local regulations, Foreign licensed pilots are not allowed to fly on VFR routes. Since most of the airports and airfields are not equipped for IFR approaches it is not practical to plan an IFR tour in the country. Validation procedure requires written exams ( aeronautical law, radio operation, navigation, technical knowledge ) as well as practical flight test with CAA examiner, it might take few weeks to complete and it is valid for one year only. The practical way to have a one time
flight is to rent a plane with a local flight instructor in the right seat.
The other possible way is to find a local licensed pilot and join a ride by
calling local
AOPA office Most popular planes are Cessna 152 / 172.
Also available Piper Cherokee 6 and few twins. The cost of renting C 172 is
about USD 220.- per hour ( all included ) plus instructor fees ~ USD
80.-; If you are planning to visit Israel and fly, you better look, well in advance, for more information about the possibilities. You are welcome to contact
AOPA Israel at any time for assistance and further information. |
